This colour Biro drawing brings together the haunting memories of different European forests, at different moments in combat history, where the American Army fought the German Army in the forests of Western Europe and Russian Revolutionaries galloped through Russian forests. In the centre of the drawing sits a lone wolf. It represents 'Nature' caught in the middle of conflict and contemplates the futility and destruction of war. Romanian legend tells of the White Wolf, outcast for looking different but gains strength from being ostracised. The wolf is a portrait of Jane's muse Lily. She stands over the proceedings of war and sees the innocent and guilty on all sides of any conflict. Jane photographed HBO series 'Band of Brothers' and films 'The Red and the White', Miklós Jancsóand 'Come and See', Elem Klimovas as reference for this artwork.
